Here is a list of some of the fantastic things that you can do while you are visiting the San Francisco Bay area. This is just a short list, as there are thousands of things that you can do to keep yourself or your family entertained while visiting the San Francisco Bay or the area around it.
- Travel to the Santa Cruz University of California and take a look at the stunning campus and the beautiful redwood trees that surround it.
- Go and visit the sea lions that hang out at Pier 39 near the San Francisco Bay.
- Visit the Institute of Contemporary Art, which is located in San Jose.
- Enjoy all of the breathtaking coastline and the beautiful homes that you can see while you are driving between the Pacific Grove and Del Monte on the way to Carmel.
- Take a fishing trip to the Capitola Pier, enjoying the live jazz music that is played on many weekends throughout the year.
- Visit Mill Valley, which is located just across the bridge from the San Francisco Bay, and yet it seems a world away from all of the high rise buildings and the fog that the San Francisco Bay area is known for. This is a very expensive area to live in, but it is well worth visiting and you can take advantage of all of the unique coffee shops, the library and the unique stores as well.
- Go to the San Jose Rose Garden, which San Jose was once quite well known for. Before San Jose became the center for Silicon Valley, it was actually known as the garden city.
- Enjoy the beautiful summer days in the San Francisco Bay without having to worry about any humidity. Most of the rest of the country experiences humidity with their summer months, and yet you can enjoy the warmth without the humidity when visiting the San Francisco Bay area.
- Visit the Santa Cruz Beach and enjoy the boardwalk.
- Visit the Villa Montalvo in the Monte Sereno area and enjoy the performance art and the contemporary art that the area has to offer.
- Go and inspect all of the studios of the emerging artists that show their studios off in the San Francisco Bay area for "open studios".
- Visit the Carnaval in the San Francisco Bay area, but keep in mind that there is some nudity.
- Go to the Mission District in San Francisco and enjoy a slice of pizza from Frida's Pizza, an iconic pizza joint.
- Visit the famous Cinco de Mayo celebration in San Jose and enjoy all kinds of entertainment and excitement.
- Visit the largest flea market in the world in the Jan Jose area.
