Zebra Mussels Discovered in San Justo Reservoir

Wildlife officials have discovered Zebra Mussels for the 1st time in California.  They are asking for fisherman and boaters to notify authorities is they find them.

Zebra Mussels are an invasive species in North America that clog pipes and impede normal boat operations and maintenance for boats kept in the water.  They reproduce very quickly and in general are very hard to control once they have been introduced.  They do provide food for crayfish and fish.  Even though, this may seem like a good thing the invasive nature of the Zebra Mussel makes for a real nuisance.
