About the Lake:
Bass Lake is located at the southern entrance to Yosemite Park. This incredibly beautiful lake is a great place for fishing and boating and offers numerous features for both. For most of the year, water levels are sufficient for most boats. After September however, levels do tend to dip a bit.
Boat Launches:
Wishon Point Boat Ramp
On the south side of the lake, on Rd. 222 near the dam.
Paved launch ramp, campground nearby.
Pines Village Boat Ramp
On the northshore of the lake, on Rd. 432 near Pines Village Resort.
Paved launch ramp, marina.
Camping:
Is camping allowed? Yes, the forest service does allow camping. Here are the locations according to lake management:
#01 Crane Valley Group Campground
At the northwest end of the lake, on Rd. 222 near the junction of Rd. 222 and Rd. 432.
7 group sites, maximum trailer length 30', no water, amphitheater, vault toilets, fee, open year round.
#02 Forks Campground
On the south side of the lake, on Rd. 222.
31 R.V. and tent sites, maximum trailer length 24', water, flush toilets, fee, open April - early October.
#03 Lupine-Cedar Campground
On the south side of the lake, on Rd. 222.
R.V. and tent sites, group sites, maximum trailer length 40', water, flush toilets, fee, open year round.
#04 Wishon Point Campground
On the south side of the lake, on Rd. 222 near the dam.
47 R.V. and tent sites, maximum trailer length 30', water, flush toilets, fee, launch ramp, open May - late September.
#05 Spring Cove Campground
On the south side of the lake, on Rd. 222.
63 R.V. and tent sites, maximum trailer length 30', water, flush toilets, fee, open May - mid September.
Boating restrictions:
Please note that you may not stay at the lake for more than 10 consecutive days. All boats must meet federal and state boating regulations.
What kind of fish can be found in the lake? Trout, bass, crappie, salmon, catfish and even panfish can be found here.
Are there any limitations or regulations on fishing? Yes, according to lake management:
Trout and Salmon: Open season all year. Limit: five
Bass: Open season all year. Limit: five bass. Minimum length: 12 inches
Catfish: Open season all year. Limit: no limit
Crappie: Open season all year. Limit: twenty five
Panfish: Open season all year. Limit: no limit
Special Notes:
Please note that the day use camping areas close at nine. If camping, the forest service requires that all fires be put out using a shovel and water. They ask that you do not bury the coals.
