Is boating allowed?

Jackson Lake is actually a popular destination for boating. Boating is allowed, but not in or near the swim beaches, in the inlet, the dike fishing area or the outlet tube area. The lake closes to motorized boating beginning on November 1 because the lake freezes over, and boating does not resume until all of the ice is gone in the spring. Boating conditions are subject to change, but the Jackson Lake website is consistently updated concerning information on boating conditions and fishing conditions.

Is there a boat ramp?

There is a four lane boat ramp located on the western shore of the lake. The ramp can become crowded when weather causes boats to leave the lake, so if the weather begins to turn, start early and head back as soon as possible to avoid traffic getting up out of the lake.

Is camping allowed?

Camping is absolutely allowed at Jackson Lake in Colorado. Jackson Lake has 260 different campsites, and many of them are available all throughout the year. Most campsites also have electric hook ups. Most campsites need to be reserved as many as seventy-two hours in advance. In other words, reservations must be made on Tuesday for a Friday arrival. Most of Jackson Lake's campsites can be reserved as many as six months in advance.

What You Need to Know:

In the campsites surrounding Jackson Lake, quiet hours are observed from between 10 o'clock pm and 6 o'clock am. Camping permits expire at noon the following day, and sites that are not renewed by noon can be reassigned. Reserving a campsite only costs $8, and six people can share a single campsite. Park passes cost $6 per day, but you can also purchase annual passes if you plan to camp for more than ten days a year and would like to save some money in the process. The regular annual pass fee is $60, but for seniors aged 64 or older the annual pass cost is only $30. Camping fees are different, at $14 per night for non electric camping sites, and $18 per night for electric camping sites. Camping sites do not have to be reserved, but they can be reserved for $8. Jackson Lake is a popular destination for camping, boating, water sports and fishing.

Is fishing allowed?

Fishing is absolutely allowed at Jackson Lake, which is stocked with fish of all kinds. Fishing is restricted during the season for waterfowl hunting, and is also prohibited from swim beach areas throughout the year. Motorized boats can be used for fishing in the spring, summer and fall, but beginning on November 1 only non-motorized boats can be used in the lake.

What kind of fish will I find there?

The most common warm water fish that you will find in Jackson Lake include walleye, saugeye, perch, catfish, trout, wipers and crappie. You may also be able to find Northern pike, large mouth bass and small mouth bass as well.
