Phone: (805) 686-5054

History of the Lake:

This is a gorgeous lake in Southern California that features incredibly clean water and plenty of outdoor activities. Although you have to be careful since the water is used as a water supply, that doesn't mean you can't have fun while you are here. We found this lake to have the absolute best fishing in the area.

Is Boating Allowed?

Absolutely. This is a terrific place for boaters, especially if you would like to get a little fishing in as well. The marina is incredibly well stocked and you can even store your boat here year round if you would like. We found the fees to be very reasonable and the staff was very helpful.

Is there a launch ramp?

Yes, the marina has one, but there is a day use fee.

Is camping allowed?

Yes, there are numerous campsites around the lake. You must reserve your site ahead of time, and there is a small fee for use. We found the campgrounds to be very well maintained.

What kind of fish will I find here?

This is a great lake for bass, crappie, catfish and a great selection of trout.

Are there any regulations I need to know about?

Yes, if you will be boating, you must have a valid California license. Basic fishing regulations are adhered to at this lake, and you must have your current fishing license with you.

What else do I need to know?

The fish here are stupendous! The record catfish weighed over 32 pounds, and we have not seen trout this size in many other lakes. This is a great lake for the whole family and there are plenty of things for everyone to see and do while they are here.

Lopez Lake Marina is located in: Arroyo Grande, CA

Phone: (805) 489-1006

Is there a marine standby channel monitored? No, at this time the marina does not monitor any standby channels. You can however reach them by phone.

Average Water Depth: Lake Lopez will range in depth depending on the season and current conditions. Please call ahead before you arrive to check the depth to make sure it will be satisfactory.

Is there a pumpout service?

No, the marina does not offer this service. In addition, there are no nearby pumpout services available. We recommend emptying your tanks before you arrive.

Is there a fuel dock?

Yes, regular fuel is provided on site at this location.

What services are provided?

The marina offers showers, restrooms and laundry facilities. While there is no restaurant, there is a small mini mart that offers a variety of snacks, bait and tackle and other merchandise.

Are any guest services offered?

No, at this time the marina does not offer any guest docking services. If you plan to bring your own boat, we highly recommend contacting them to see if they will allow you to dock briefly. Otherwise, you may end up having to drop anchor on the lake. A few moorings are available, and they are pretty nice.

What you need to know:

This is a nice marina that is pretty well maintained. It was standard issue for a lake marina, but the staff was helpful. We would have liked to have seen a few more guest services, but overall, it was a nice place to visit. The lake is definitely geared more towards rentals, so it's probably best to leave your own boat at home and just rent one. We found the rates to be quite reasonable, but please note that fuel is not covered. There are also a few restrictions if you plan on bringing your pet with you, particularly on pontoon boats.

This is a great lake for fishing and a nice place to stay for the weekend. It's not the Ritz, but you'll have everything you need for a great family trip. The weekly rates are not bad, and you can save some significant money on rentals by choosing this option. Please note that some of their rental boats are not available all year long.

Is there a boat ramp? Yes, there is a boat ramp on site.

Digger Bay Marina is located on Lake Shasta.

Phone: 530.275.3021

Average Water Depth: This varies according to the seasons. Please contact the harbor for lake levels before you arrive.

Is there a marine standby channel? No, not at this time.

Is there a pumpout station?

Yes, the marina provides this service. There may be a fee for guests or full time residents.

Is there a fuel dock?

Yes, the marina provides regular fuel. Diesel fuel may be able at other locations around the lake if you require this type of fuel for your boat.

What kind of services are provided?

This is a very nice marina that is located within a resort. You'll get all the best amenities and the prices are very reasonable. Showers, restrooms and laundry facilities are provided. There is an on-site restaurant and a store if you are running low on supplies. In addition to their docking services this location also offers houseboat rentals.

What you need to know:

This is one of the nicest marinas on the lake and you'll find that the service is unparalleled. If you are looking to take a long vacation at Lake Shasta but don't want to bring your own boat, they do offer houseboat rentals that can be reserved by the week. Prices range from $1500 to $2000 for a weeklong stay and most can sleep up to twelve people. Lake Shasta is really all about the houseboats and this is a terrific way to spend any vacation. The houseboats come with everything you could ever need for your week on the water, but please be advised that they are very popular and limited. If you wish to rent one, you will need to reserve it in advance.

The marina also rents fishing equipment as well as waterskiing equipment. A boat repair shop is also located on site if you experience any problems while you're on the lake.

What kind of guest services are provided?

Guests can use the docks and slips. Please note that electricity is not provided but guests will have access to moorings. The marina does not specify if fresh water is provided but there are plenty of locations nearby if you do need fresh water.

Is there a boat ramp? Yes, this marina has a four lane boat ramp on site.

About the Lake:

This gorgeous lake was formed by damming the upper portion of the Sacramento River. You can see Mount Shasta from anywhere on the lake and it is truly one of the most picturesque lakes we have ever visited. You'll feel like you've stepped out of a postcard. The entire lake and surrounding camping areas take up about 250 acres total, and the lake is served by one marina and resort, detailed below.

Is there a boat ramp?

Yes, the marina has a boat ramp on site.

Is camping allowed?

Yes, there are several campsites and RV hookups located at the Siskiyou Resort. We've detailed the costs for these sites below.

Are there any boating restrictions?

All boats must be operated under State laws. Boating licenses are required.

Are there any fishing regulations?

Yes, anyone fishing must have a California state fishing license. One can be purchased at the marina if you do not have one. There are also daily limits on each type of fish in the lake.

Special Notes:

Please note that the lake is only open from April 1st to October 31st, and dates may change according to current weather conditions. It is always best to call ahead and reserve your campsite if you plan on visiting. There are moorings at the marina, which we've detailed below, but again, during peak times it is best to reserve your mooring ahead of time or at least check to see if they will have room for you.

If you prefer not to bring your own boat, there are plenty of rentals and we found that they were all in excellent condition. The campsites are also well cared for and overall, you could not ask for a nicer place to visit. We were in awe of surroundings and this is one lake where you can come close to finding total peace and quiet. The fishing was also very good and we had an incredible time during our stay. Highly recommended!
