Camanche Lake

About the Lake:

Camanche Lake is in the heart of California gold country and covers an area of twelve square miles. Although it is known primarily for its bass fishing, in recent years, trout have become more popular. This is a terrific lake for boating and offers the whole family a great experience.

Boat Launches:

Camanche Recreation Area; North Shore 2000 Camanche Road, Ione, CA 95640, Marina: (209) 763-5166

6 lane launch ramp ($5.50 fee)

Directions:

Follow Hwy. 88 as it bears left just beyond Clements. Turn right off 88 onto Liberty Rd.\North Camanche Parkway. Follow North Camanche Parkway 6 miles. Turn right on Camanche (just opposite the Lake Camanche Village recreation building) follow Camanche Road directly to the North Shore gate.

Directions: Highway 88 past Clements, becomes Hwy. 12. Turn left on South Camanche Parkway at Wallace. Continue straight for approximately five miles to the South Shore gate.

Camping

Camping and a full service marina

Boating Restrictions:

 Please note that all boats must follow state and federal regulations.What kind of fish can be found at the lake? The previously mentioned bass and trout, as well as catfish and crappie.Are there any regulations on fishing? Yes, the lake requires that you have a special permit before being allowed to fish. Please contact their office for more information. Further, please note the following limits:

Trout: Open season all year. Limit: five

Bass: Open season all year. Limit: five bass. Minimum length: twelve inches.

Catfish: Open season all year. Limit: twenty (except Bullheads no limit.)

Crappie: Open season all year. Limit: twenty-five

Other species: Other species of fish may be taken in any number and at any time of the year by angling.

Special Notes:

This is a very family friendly lake and although you are required to have special permits for fishing, it is considered to be one of the most premier locations for boating and fishing.
