In every area of the state of California, you will find an abundant supply of lakes rife with fish that are waiting to be caught. All told, California has more than 3000 different lakes, reservoirs, streams and other excellent bodies of water that are available to the avid angler who is looking for a good challenge and some excellent fish. With all of that water, it should not be difficult to find a nice, quiet and enjoyable lake that you can relax next to, casting a line in to catch your lunch or dinner.
No matter where you go in the state of California, you should have no trouble finding a fishing lake. Great fishing is always available right at your fingertips regardless of whether you are looking for something like Lake Almanor in Northern California, or Silverwood Lake in southern California. If you are an avid angler looking for enjoyable and challenging lakes, consider these highlights:
Fishing Lakes in Northern California -
One lake that is known for providing tremendous trout fishing is a lake known as Almanor, which is located in Chester, California. Most anglers can easily land their limit in only a couple of hours by visiting this unique Northern California lake. Here you will easily find trout ranging from three to five pounds. You could fish all day using catch and release, and never have a single boring fish moment while visiting Lake Almanor.
Another excellent Northern California fishing lake is Sardine Lake in the Tahoe National Forest, which is close to Sierra City. This is a pristine lake for California fishing, which is divided into two portions, upper and lower. Upper Sardine Lake is quite the noteworthy fishing spot, and Lower Sardine Lake is regularly regarded as a fishing nirvana, as no swimming is allowed and the water is intended solely for fishing. On a sunny day, you can see straight to the bottom of this beautiful lake.
Fishing Lakes in Central California -
If your favorite fish to catch is bass, then consider Bass Lake which is in Oakhurst in Central California. Bass are definitely the fish of the day every day in this beautiful lake, which is relatively close in proximity to the well known Yosemite National Park. Take a day off and visit the Giant Sequoias, then spend your afternoon landing trophy bass on a stunning lake.
Lake Isabella in Kernville in Central California is another stunning lake. Here you will find less shade trees and foliage, so things stay a little warmer than most lakes. At an elevation of almost 2600 feet above sea level, you can expect a completely different fishing experience here. Fishing is still excellent in Lake Isabella, and once you're through you can visit the nearby Sequoia National Forest in mere minutes.
