Lakes and Saltwater
Anderson: Those who are looking for some decent small bass bites are going to need to get to about 15 feet deep. The fishing has been a little difficult thanks to the recent cold front. The fish are going down further in the water, making them harder to get.
Berkeley: Best spot for Salmon fishing, as Salmon season will be over in less than a week. Rock Cod is also strong for the area.
Berryessa: If you are looking to get a strong bass bite you should look to the outside of the weed beds. You are going to have to go deeper under the water at this location as well. Fishing has been slow, but rewarding for those who show patience.
Camanche: Head to this area after the sun sets if you want to get some of the best catfish fishing in the area. Head out to the main lake if you want to be able to catch some trout. The trout are swimming deeper than usual.
Capitola: Sardines have been the name of the game at Capitola, with large pulls coming in. Halibut is not as strong as it used to be. The same can be said for the Rock Cod Fishing in the area.
Chabot: There are plants going in every week in the area, hoping to eventually spark some strong catfish fishing. 500 pounds went in during the last week, but fishermen still fail to see any rewards from that plant.
Calero: Head toward the weed beds and directly outside of those beds for the best fishing in the area.
Chesbro: Head out to this location with chicken livers if you want some strong bite. Catfish are taking the chicken livers. Look for catfish up to 10 pounds.
Clear: Those heading to the area for bass fishing will be disappointed, while those who are looking for catfish will be impressed. The bass are going deeper, making them harder to catch. Head to Cache Creek if you want to get a strong catfish bite.
Coyote: This has been a rough location for fishing this week. The bass fishing is on and off, making for weak or empty pulls.
Del Valle: Head toward the dam if you are looking for the best fishing at this location. The striped bass are catching fairly easily at the dam, as are the catfish. Some trout are being picked up around the Narrows.
Emeryville: This location is getting Rock Cod limits on a somewhat regular basis. Halibut, as in other locations, has been relatively slow and low.
Lake San Antonio: This area has started to slow down, as far as fishing is concerned. The dam is the best location for fishing at this spot.
Loch Lomond: Head out in the morning if you are looking to be able to pick up some bass. Bluegill has been somewhat strong in the area.
Los Vaqueros: Head to the shallows if you are looking to get strong bites of catfish and striped bass. There have been reports of 15 pound stripers and 21 pound catfish over the last two weeks.
McAlpine: A relatively strong location for most of the fish. Those heading to the area will find strong catfish, trout, and bass fishing.
Monterey: Rock Cod limits are hit or miss, depending on the wind and the weather. White sea bass has been strong.
New Hogan: Those who have been heading out to New Hogan for striped bass will find that the fishing is starting to pick back up. Bass fishing is still somewhat difficult, however, as the fish are at least 20 feet below the surface of the water.
Pacifica: Those who are looking for Perch are going to want to head to the area. Striper fishing has been inconsistent at best.
Pardee: One of your last chances to get in a strong Kokanee bite for some time. Trout fishing is somewhat decent in the area. If you are looking for catfish, head to the south end of the lake. If you want to get in some bass fishing, head toward the river arm.
Pillar Point: Cod and Halibut are strong at this location, making it a good spot for overall fishing.
Quarry Lakes: Fishing has been anything but good in the area, with few bites of any type of fish. The only somewhat decent fishing in the area has been bass fishing.
San Luis Reservoir: Head to the area with works and anchovies if you are looking to get some of the better striped bass in the region. Head to the forebay for the best bites in the area.
San Pablo Reservoir: Those who are looking for catfish will be happy to know that the catfish bite is picking up in the area. Head to Scow Canyon and the Boat Launch area to find the best fishing at this location.
UVAS: Catfish are seemingly non-existent in the area, making it a difficult place for a strong catch. Bass are biting at night, however, giving some hope for the next week.
Deltas
Frank’s Tract: If you are trying to pick up Black Bass, bring spinner baits to the area. Yozuri Minnows are helping to pick up the striped bass in the area.
Rio Vista: This area continues to have stronger and stronger outings for those with patience. Head to Decker Island and Old Dairy for the best fishing spots available.
