Lakes and Saltwater
Anderson: Look to the dam and the south end of the lake for the best fishing in the area. If you are going for bass, go fishing toward midday.
Berryessa: Fishing has been good from morning until mid-afternoon. Go toward the weed edges to find the best fish in the lake.
Berkeley: Salmon fishing has been somewhat decent in the area. Cod has also been catching relatively well in the lake.
Camanche: Bass are being found at depths of 15 to 30 feet. Best fishing sports are: upper-lake beyond bridge, dike 1, and dike 2.
Capitola: Halibut and Rock Cod are being found in the kelp beds. Use live sardines to have the best shot at a strong catch.
Chabot: Fishing is still slow in this lake, despite the multiple bass plants in the area. Go to the first dock and fish at night to find the best fishing in the lake.
Calero: Cherry Cove and Bailey Cover are providing some of the best fishing in the area. Mornings are providing a strong top-water fish. Crankbaits are perfect for those fishing in the later hours.
Chesbro: Catfish are slowly beginning to bite. This has been a slow location this week.
Clear: Bass fishing is picking up in the area, thanks to the calmer weather patterns. For best results, go toward the north end of the lake.
Collins Lake: Great spot for fishing over the past week. Crappie, trout, and catfish are biting on a fairly common basis.
Contra Loma: Catfish and bass fishing has been strong in the area. Fish over 10 pounds are being found. Bass fishing is strong on the west shore, while Channel Point has brought about strong catfish fishing.
Coyote: Best fishing is in the evening, near the dam. Crappie is catching fairly well with wax worms.
Del Valle: Not the best location for Trout fishing this week. Stripers are biting fairly well.
Lafayette: This is a strong location for fishing this week. Bass, bluegill, and catfish have been biting on a consistent basis. Trout fishing has not been as strong as usual but is still strong. Catfish will continue to bite well in the region, thanks to a 1,250 pound plant.
Loch Lomond: Need to go to almost 20 feet down to catch the bass in the area. Bluegill fishing has been strong over the last week.
Los Vaqueros: Go to the different piers in the lake and to the Rock Wall to find a strong Striped Bass bite. Nightcrawlers have been the best for these fish.
McAlpine: Those looking for trout may want to hit up McAlpine. A plant went in last Tuesday. The lake has seen fairly strong bass fishing. Fish at night to find a decent Catfish bite.
Monterey: Rock Cod limits are being hit on a regular basis, making this a strong area for fishing this week.
New Melones: Go to a depth of 30 feet to find somewhat strong trout fishing. Go to the dam for Kokanee. Bass fishing has been somewhat strong throughout the lake.
Oroville: Those looking for strong bass fishing need to head to the middle fork and main body of the lake.
Pacifica: Beaches have been producing a relatively strong bass bite. Crab season is officially over.
Pardee: Strong spotted bass fishing over the last week. Drop-shot to almost 20 feet to see the best results. Fishermen are also finding strong bites for Kokanee, Trout, and Catfish in the main lake and southern part of the lake.
Pillar Point: Salmon limits are being caught in the area.
Santa Cruz: Rock Cod is still biting relatively well in the area, but is failing to bring in limits.
San Francisco Bay: Halibut fishing has been relatively slow, thanks to the big tides and the wind in the area.
San Luis Reservoir: Forebay is providing the strongest fishing o the week. The 33 bridge is fishing strong, as is the 152 bridge.
San Pablo Reservoir: Fishermen catching a couple of trout each day. Go near the dam and Oak Point to find the best catch. The launching area is providing a somewhat strong catfish and bass bite. Head to this area in the next couple of weeks for catfish: plants are going to start within the week.
San Pablo Bay: Bass and halibut fishing has been slow, thanks to the minus tides in the area. The weekends are the best times to fish in the area, as the tides improve over the weekend. Sturgeon fishing has been relatively strong.
Shadow Cliffs: Avoid this area for fishing this week. While catfish plants are going in every week, fishing has still been slow. Fishing should pick up in a week or two because of those plants.
Suisun Bay: Sturgeon caught in the area, toward the mouth of the Montezuma Slough. The Glomar is also giving up a strong Sturgeon bite.
Quarry Lakes: Multiple plants went into the lake this week, including Trout and Catfish. Those looking for strong fishing find it at the Peninsula and at Fishermen’s Row.
UVAS: Mornings are bringing about a strong bass bite. Evenings are finding a good bite for both bass and crappie.
Rivers and Deltas
Antioch: Stripers are being caught in the area, but Sturgeon fishing has been erratic at best.
Frank’s Tract: Bass fishing has been somewhat decent. Fishermen must punch through the beds of weed to get the best bite.
Pittsburg: Slow fishing in this area, making it a difficult location. Stripers are being caught, but are at best erratic.
Rio Vista: Stripers have been plentiful in the area. Sturgeon are coming up at random.
Tracy: Fishing is only strong at night, as water skiers are making fishing nearly impossible during the day.
