Lakes and Saltwater
Berryessa: If you want to get the best bite on this lake you need to get there in the morning or in the late afternoon or night. Bass fishing is poor during the day but strong during the other parts of the day.
Berkely: Limits of rock cod are being round in the area. Halibut fishing is somewhat decent as well, as is striper fishing. Look to Seal Rock for Halibut. Avoid Duxbury, no real salmon there.
Bodega Bay: Go to the beaches to get Halibut. Salmon Creek Beach and Russian River providing the best catch. Cod limits are being found. Salmon have not been caught for a few days.
Calero: Somewhat strong bass and bluegill fishing in the area.
Camanche: Bass fishers are pulling in limits during the morning. Catfish fishing is somewhat strong at night, especially for those who are near the Upriver.
Capitola: Rock cod has only been somewhat decent at best
Chabot: The only fishing that is somewhat decent in the lake is Catfish. The west shore has brought about some of the larger catfish in the area.
Clear: Catfish bite has been consistent, especially in places near Nice and Kelseyville. Clear Lake has been difficult to fish because of the algae bloom in the area. Look to Konocti Bay if you want to have a decent bass fishing trip. Crappie can be found by all of the docks in the area. Bluegill is available as well near the islands.
Collins Lake: Trout fishing has been relatively strong in the area, regardless of the hot weather. 15 pound catfish was found in the area within the last week.
Del Valle: Go to the dam if you want to find a strong striped bass bite. Large bass are being caught on a regular basis, especially near Hetch Hetchy. Do not come to the area for trout, as trout fishing is slow at best.
Emeryville: Rock Cod limits are being found, with a few Halibut and a few striped bass.
LaFayette: Catfish has been good thanks to two separate plants. Look to the docks to catch the bass, bluegill, and crappie in the area. Trout are being found toward the south end of the lake, but trout fishing is somewhat slow.
Lake Lagunitas: a 500 pound plant of trout went into the lake last week. Trout fishing should be somewhat decent in the area.
Lake Lomond: Bluegill is somewhat strong on the west side of the lake, by the islands. Small bass are also being found in the location.
Lake San Antonio: Go to Harris Creek to find Stripers in the coves. The area also has Smallmouth Bass.
Los Vaqueros: Go to the rock wall to find a strong striper bite. Multiple 10+ pounders have been found in the area over the last week. Catfish are also being caught in the lake, making this a strong fishing location for the week.
McAlpine: Catfish biting is somewhat strong in the mornings. Bassk and trout has been decent in the area.
New Melones: Those looking for a strong Kokanee bite should look to the area. Trout and bass have both been strong in the area, as has catfishing. This is a strong fishing location this week, providing plenty of limits. Kokanee are being found near the spillway dam, and by Carson cove. Spotted bass can be founding the upriver area.
Pardee: Trout and Kokanee are being found near the damn, near the mouth of the river, and near the south end of the lake. Rainbow Point is providing a strong trout bite, and catfish are being round at the south end of the lake.
San Pablo Bay: Minuts tides have made this spot somewhat difficult for fishing. Should get better this week.
San Pablo Reservoir: Catfish bite is starting to get stronger and trout fishing is starting to drop off. The morning is the best for any fishing in the area. Look to late afternoon for decent fishing around the pines.
Shadow Cliffs: Go to the panhandle to find a strong catfish bite. Any fishermen that manage to get deep in the water are still managing to get trout.
Shasta: Trout fishing is decent around the entire area. Trout are stronger near Arbuckle to those who get down to 50 feet. Salmon are catching near the dam. The bite has been the best at night.
Suisun Bay: Strong wind has made fishing somewhat slow in the area.
Quarry Lakes: Go to the backside of the lake during the morning or night to find a somewhat decent catfish bite. Trout are somewhat strong in Fishermen’s Row.
Deltas and Rivers:
Antioch: Catfish is somewhat decent in the area, as are stripers. Look to the sloughs if you are looking to catch panfish.
Franks Tract: Fish are small in the area, and there are no stripers found in the area.
Pittsburg: Fishing is slow at best in the area. Few sturgeon and stripers are being caught.
Rio Vista: Small striped bass are being found in the area. Look to Montezuma Slough to find sturgeon. Catfish are being round in the backs of the sloughs in this particular area.
