Lakes/Saltwater
Almanor: Trolling fishing the most successful in the area. Salmon toward the east side. Bass fishing has been decent, but inconsistent.
Anderson: Those looking for good bass fishing will find it in Anderson. Fishermen using nearly every type of bait available and are catching bass. The north end of Anderson has been the best spot for bass fishing.
Berkeley: Halibut fishing has been strong for those fishing in the North Bay.
Camanche: Look to the pond to find the best trout fishing. The lake is providing a good amount of bass. Those looking for catfish may want to wait; the catfish are just now starting to bite.
Capitola: Sardines are starting to catch once again, as well as Halibut. Striped bass are also found in the area, providing a diverse landscape for fishermen.
Chabot: Those looking for strong trout fishing should bass on this area. While some trout are being caught, the plant is still about a week off.
Calero: Crappie fishing has slowed down considerably but bass fishing continues to thrive off of the rocky points of Calero.
Chesbro: Still a slow area for fishing.
Collins: Trout fishing is decent, with most coming in with two or three catches. Catfish starting to bite as well. Look to the docks for strong catfishing.
Contra Loma: Look to Channel Point for strong catfish bites. Trout are all over the lake.
Coyote: Some are finding relative success in Coyote, picking up a few decent sized bass a day. The launch ramp still provides a good amount of crappie.
Del Valle: Good location for both striped bass and trout. Trout can be found by the boat, while bass can be found near the dam.
Emeryville: Strong trips have brought in large amounts of stripers and halibut.
Lafayette: Trophy size rainbow trout planted within the last week. Plenty of fishermen bringing in large rainbow trout. Look for another 1000 pound plant of trout this week. Catfish are biting at a decent pace as well.
Lake Nacimiento: Those who are looking for strong bass should look to this area in the morning and at night. The heat of the day kills the bass fishing in this area. Look to the dip creek area for the best bass fishing in the lake.
Loch Lomond: Bass finishing continues to be somewhat decent in the area. Look to the northern end for relatively large bluegill.
Los Vaqueros: Striped bass fishing strong, with 9-12 pound catches in the area. Look to the spot between Cowboy cove and the Rock Wall. Anchovies helping to catch them Look for a 1,200 pound plant in Los Vaqueros next week.
McAlpine: Bass fishing is going well in the mornings, while catfish is biting in the evenings. McAlpine is also a strong area for trout fishing in the area.
Monterary: Limits are being hit for rock cod, as well as yellowtails, blues, and vermillion.
Oroville: Bass fishing is slowing, but still manageable to those who get at least 5 feet under water.
Pacifica: Striped bass are still biting in the area, and perch fishing is still steady toward the area of Montara.
Pillar Point: Look for rock-cod fishing to begin next week. Salmon fishing has not been well; silvers are catching and must be released.
Pillsbury: Cold water is slowing down the fishing. Look for this area to improve in the coming weeks as the water temperature continues to increase. Those who get at least 15 feet below the water are managing to catch trout.
Pittsburg Delta: Small stripers near Broad Slough and Chain Island. Sturgeon being found at Honker Bay, Buoys 33 and 34.
Rio Vista: Catfish and stripers have been slow in the area. Not the best spot for fishing.
San Luis Reservoir: Striped bass and black bass are catching in various areas of the reservoir. Look to the forebay during windy weather to have the best chances of success.
San Pablo Reservoir: Small trout are managing to bite in this area, especially in the recreation area and bobber beach. The lower in the water you get, the more trout you will find.
Santa Cruz: Some limits are being hit, including limits for vermillion, olives, and blues for rock cod.
San Francisco Bay: Halibut fishing is decent by Candlestick, Oyster, and Coyote points.
San Pablo Bay: Halibut are being caught in the area, up to 12 pounds. Look to some strong sturgeon fishing thanks to weekend tides.
Shadow Cliffs: Avoid shadow cliffs this week, but come to the spot next week for great trout fishing, as a plant is scheduled for later in the week.
Shasta: Go to near 20 feet to catch bass, browns and greens doing the best work.
Suisun: Look for sturgeon near Buoy 2. Stripers also being found in the area.
Quarry Lakes: Nearly 2,000 pounds of plants have gone into Quarry Lakes within the last week. Kiosk Cove and Fishermen’s row are seeing some of the best fishing in the area thanks to these plants. Catfish can also be found in the lake, making it a prime fishing location.
UVAS: Catfish are still being caught in UVAS. Look for bites in the 3 pound range.
Rivers/Deltas
American: Look to the evenings as the best times for Shad fishing.
Feather: Small stripers can be found on the feather, with shad fishing being relatively slow. Avoid Shanghai Bend, as most have left the area.
Trinity: A high running river is keeping fishermen at bay. There are some salmon in the river, but not enough to make it a good fishing location for the week.
