Anderson: Bass fishing has been pretty steady and productive in this area. Those who have seen the most success are those who use crank baits.
Berryessa: Look to the outside points and the main body to find the bass. They can also be found in the narrows of the lake. Success found with Carolina-rigged plastics.
Bon Tempe: Perfect place to head to for trout fishing. Bon Tempe just received a plant of 1,000 trout within the last week.
Chabot: Also has seen a plant of trout. Over 1200 pounds have been added over the last two weeks. East and West shoreline trails are seeing the greatest amount of success.
Calero: Plenty of success for bass fishing found with crank baits, drift baits, and trolling plastics.
Chesbro: Perfect place for night fishing. Catfish have been biting with night crawlers and anchovies.
Clear: Weather has been throwing around the fishing in this area. Soft plastics are the best for this area, as biting is hit or miss.
Contra Loma: Still a good spot for those looking for trout fishing. High points are near the swimming area and the channel point. Night crawlers are perfect for both trout and catfish.
Coyote: Not the best place for fishing; dead fish are killing the fishing in Coyote. Have been reports of crappie by the dam.
Del Valle: Another location seeing somewhat iffy fishing. Trout have been biting on the east beach and near the marina.
Eagle: Saturday is opening day for the fishing area. Do not be fooled by the low water, as it is still going to be full of trout. Head near Rocky Point, as it will see a plant of 5,000 trout.
Lake San Antonio: Been relatively active, with striped bass and catfish found outside the bays and at the north shore, respectively.
Lake Nacimiento: Use rooster tails to find the white bass in Dip Creek.
Lafayette: Wind causing some issues with trout. Good wind conditions are bringing in a decent amount of bites. Water temperature is rising.
Loch Lomond: Not a lot of information, but some word that 2 to 4 pound bass are biting within the last week.
Low Vaqueros: Perfect fishing spot for those looking for trout. Heavy amount of trout caught on the northwest side of the area, including the shallow areas of Cowboy Cove. Those who have seen the most success have relied on night crawlers.
McAlpine: Trout is also biting well in this area, as many are hitting their limits. The area has also seen good fishing for bass and catfish. Power bait for the trout, green tube bait for the bass, and night crawlers for the catfish.
Pardee: Bass are found in the coves of the river. Catfish are also being caught toward the south end. Trout found at the mouth and at the dam.
San Pablo Reservoir: Trout are biting on a regular basis in the area, as are bass. Look to get 20 feet below the surface to get a good bite.
Santa Margarita Lake: Big news in the area, as a record largemouth was caught over the weekend. Good choice for those looking for good bass fishing.
Shadow Cliffs: Trout fishing is getting a pickup, as a plant of 750 pounds has gone in over the last week.
Quarry Lakes: Not great news coming out of the area, although some are getting some small trout out of the area.
UVAS: Perfect spot for those who are looking for crappie fishing.
Saltwater:
Berkeley: Salmon is biting pretty well in the area over the past week. Area is also picking up a good amount of halibut and small bass.
Capitola: The wharf is helping to bring in halibut and striped bass. 25 pound striped was caught in the past week.
Emeryville: Some are seeing good biting out of the area. Finding a strong amount of halibut and stripers in both the main bay and the south bay.
Pacifica: Incoming tides are bringing in stripers from all over. Those looking for crabs on their way from the pier should look here, as they are still coming.
Pillar Point: Avoid. Poor weather conditions keeping boaters from getting out on the water.
Santa Cruz: Avoid. Same as Pillar Point: bad weather conditions are keeping boaters from getting on the water, keeping fisherman from getting in.
San Francisco Bay: Seeing a dramatic up-down swing for both halibut and striped bass. Fish are biting fairly heavy during favorable wind conditions. Smelt found from Candlestick to Coyote Point.
San Pablo Bay: Few bright spots in the area. Red Rock and Paradise are getting some halibut to bite.
Suisun Bay: Weather has not been perfect, keeping many away from the area. Those who stay have found a decent amount of sturgeon. Fish are found in the first line of ships.
Rivers and Deltas:
Antioch: Sturgeon are being picked up around the Sacramento River. Bass fishing is still going relatively slow in this area.
Franks Tract: Good bass fishing for those with crank baits and rubber worms. No luck for those looking for stripers.
Pittsburg: Those looking for good Sturgeon fishing should head to this area. Specific areas include Buoys 33 and 34. Stripers in the area are small.
Russian: Not the best spot for fishing in the past week; weather and rain are keeping the fish from biting. Look for an improvement within the next week or two.
Tracy: Those on the shore are catching a good amount of catfish. Those looking for bass have been somewhat disappointed, save for last weeks tournament winner with a 7 pound bass.
Trinity: Good spot for those looking for large browns, with reports of over 10 pounds. Water is moving as water is still being released for the dam. Conditions will not change for two to three weeks.
