Free Activities in San Francisco
November 3rd, 2009 | Around Town, San Francisco Bay
If you are planning to visit beautiful San Francisco in California, then you should know that there are a number of attractions that are must-visit places for you to go and experience. Are you wondering if there are any unique or interesting attractions in San Francisco that you can experience for free? Of course there are! First of all, one of the more obvious choices is going to be to visit the famous San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. Although this is not the longest bridge, the largest bridge or the tallest bridge in the entire world, it is still perhaps one of the most recognizable structures across the globe.
Unlike its well known sister, the Bay Bridge, which is responsible for connecting the East Bay and San Francisco together, the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge allows both pedestrians as well as bicyclists to enjoy it. And there is no fee or fare for experiencing everything that the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge has to offer, either. If you are driving into the city, however, the toll is $6, so make sure that you are prepared to pay this if you enter into San Francisco by car.
Another excellent tourist attraction for you to visit is the famous Lombard Street. This street is known as being the most crooked street in the entire world. Cars enjoy driving down this road just for fun, and many people come to Lombard Street just so that they can take pictures and enjoy this interesting street. It makes a fun street to walk down, and there are plenty of things to see along the way.
Another attraction that is well worth paying a visit to is Fisherman's Wharf, which is a true tourist's dream as well as one of the most popular and most visited attractions in the entire United States. You will find a group of Sea Lions along Pier 39. They like to swim and play and enjoy themselves all day, especially since they seem keenly aware that they are the center of attention there. You will also find a great many street performers and other unique attractions all along this area. You can watch the street performers all day for free, but they do really seem to appreciate gratuity when you have it to share. There's also a unique man here called Bush Man that wears a bush costume and likes to scare people.
As you can probably is true among any city has large as San Francisco, there are definitely many unique attractions here including some wonderful museums. Some of the museums can cost a bit of money in order for you to get in, but many museums offer free days throughout the months, so watch out for these special days and you can experience these great museums without costing yourself a dime.
