French Meadows Reservoir is located near Foresthill, CA

About the Reservoir:
This is a very remote reservoir that doesn't see a lot of traffic, so it is perfect for those seeking a quiet getaway. Not many people make the trip out this far, and it is quite a harrowing adventure to make it to the reservoir. The roads are quite precipitous and we definitely recommend driving with caution. We included directions below since this one can be very difficult to find.
French Meadows is a basin on the North Yuba River. It is really idyllic and it's easy to feel like you've been transported back in time during your stay. There are some great campsites here and the fishing is some of the best in the area. We highly recommend bringing plenty of your own supplies along, especially if you are planning to camp here for any length of time. While there are a few stores in the area, their inventory is pretty limited.
That didn't keep us from enjoying our time here and we would definitely visit again. There is no other reservoir in this area that is this beautiful or peaceful. While you're here, make sure that you try out the horseback rides through the wilderness area. This is truly a treat and would make a great family outing.
Is Camping Allowed?
