Amenities: There is gas, a pay phone and plenty of stores and restaurants that can be found at Fairfax toward the east. If you want to go to breakfast before the hike or to lunch after, check out Two Bird Café which can be found in San Geronimo on none other than San Geronimo Valley Drive, which is visible when you are on Sir Francis Drake. Keep in mind that no camping is provided on or near this hiking spot.
Rules: Although dogs are permitted on this trail, cyclists are not. There is only a single trail here, and though traffic is relatively light, it can still occasionally become crowded here.
Fees: There are no parking fees or entrance fees.
Accommodations: There is substantial parking along the road. You will not find any maps, designated parking for handicapped vehicles or drinking water here. Inside the Redwoods Preserve you will find pit toilets.
Public Transportation: There is no direct transportation that goes to the preserve, but the Golden Gate Transit Bus number 23 does service the San Geronimo Valley Drive, which is approximately 0.5 miles away from the trailhead if you are willing to make the trek.
How to Get There: From Marin County, take the US 101 and take the San Anselmo and Sir Francis Drake exit. You should be driving for approximately 11 miles due west while on Sir Francis Drake, and then you will turn right as soon as you reach Nicasio Valley Road. Now continue on for approximately 0.4 more miles, then park along the side of the road when you arrive at the Open Space gate.
