In and around the Bay Area in San Francisco you will find more than 150 major parks. Every Bay Area resident can safely say that there is at least one park located within a ten mile radius of their residence. Here are some of the most unique getaway areas in the Bay Area in San Francisco that would be perfect for enjoying over a nice summer weekend.
>> In Marin County, it would be advantageous to check out Little Strafford Lake in Novato. Here you will find shoreline trout fishing, plenty of places to walk and picnic spaces for families. There is a six foot long sturgeon living here that likes to pull unattended fishing rods down into the water.
>> In Marin County, in Mill Valley you will find Mount Tamalpais State Park. The park offers jaw dropping views, a stunning ocean panorama and stunning experiences all over.
>> Check out Sea Trek, located in Sausalito. You can rent a kayak or bring your own boat and can cross the Raccoon Strait to reach Angel Island for some stunning views and breathtaking experiences.
>> In San Francisco, check out the Wharf. Many tourists go to rent fishing boats for waterfront rides that take them around the stunning Golden Gate Bridge and as far as Alcatraz. This is a lot of fun for only $15 if you do not yet have a boat of your own.
>> Also in San Francisco is the San Bruno South Bay. The bay offers a 3.1 mile Summit Loop and plenty more to do and see for people who enjoy breathtaking views and stunning scenery.
>> If your interests extend past boating and into birding, it might be worthwhile to visit Palo Alto. The Baylands Trail provides a stunning visit through wetlands where you see stunning wildlife and plenty of native birds.
>> Another Bay Area treasure is Lafayette Reservoir in Lafayette. It is a 126-acre island that offers boat rentals, paddling, fishing and even picnicking. Spend an afternoon alone or bring your family along for a weekend and you are sure to have an enjoyable time.
>> Finally, visit Pleasanton and Livermore. There you should visit the Del Valle Regional Park in the Bay Area, which you will be able to boat, fish, swim, camp, hike, bike, watch wildlife and go backpacking all in the same place for a truly well rounded boating experience.
If you enjoy boating or a number of other outdoor activities, then it is vitally important that you explore the lakes and other waterways that the Bay Area in San Francisco offers to its visitors and residents alike. There is plenty to do and see at the parks throughout San Francisco's Bay Area, especially when it comes to boating and fishing.
