Is boating allowed?
Yes, but only to non-motorized craft. You can however use rowboats or kayaks and tubes are also allowed.
Is there a boat launch?
Since motorized boats are not allowed here, there is really no need for a launch. However, you can easily get your boat into the water at the water's edge and we didn't have any trouble loading or unloading.
Is camping allowed?
This is a day use only area, so no overnight camping is allowed. However, there are improved areas that you can use for picnicking, and there are plenty of places for kids to play. Restrooms are available, but other than that, you're pretty much on your own.
There are several campgrounds however down the road that can be used, and once again, we found these to be in very good shape. If you don't mind traveling back and forth between the lake and your campsite, this is a great way to enjoy a long weekend.
What You Need to Know:
This is a great little quiet lake and quite possibly one of the best hidden secrets we've come across in a long time. Not a lot of people go here and it's definitely off the beaten path (we've included directions below). That however is part of the lake's charm and if you're looking for a relaxing day long vacation, this is the ideal spot. The parking rates are reasonable and overcrowding isn't an issue.
Even though motorboats are not allowed, we really didn't miss that. A simple rowboat is all you really need to fish here, or you can try your luck from the shore. This lends to a very peaceful environment and overall, the feeling here is definitely all about tranquility. We highly recommend this little lake to anyone serious about getting away from it all and fishing.
What regulations are there?
No motorboats are allowed on the lake as we mentioned above. In addition, there is a $5 parking fee for each vehicle at the lake. If you plan to fish here you will need to have a proper fishing license. Please check with the lake management for more information about updated daily fish limits.
Is fishing allowed?
Yes, and it is incredible. Considering that the lake really isn't all that big, we found the fishing to be more than adequate and you'll have your limit in no time at all.
What kind of fish will I find at the lake?
You'll have your pick from bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, rainbow trout and even redear.
How to Get There:
From I-10 at Redlands exit on Orange St. and go North to Lugonia St. Turn Right on Lugonia, it turns into Mentone and then turns into Hwy 38 into the mountains towards Big Bear. When you pass the town of Angelus Oaks, travel approx. 5.5 miles to Jenks Lake Rd - W. Turn Right and travel 2.3 miles. Turn left at the entrance to the lake.
