About the Lake:

This is one of the largest man made lakes in California. It was constructed in 1914 and is an incredible place to fish for trout. Please keep in mind that due to its high elevation, this lake can freeze over at times. Please call ahead if you are planning on visiting the lakes during the summer months.

Camping

Is camping allowed? Yes, camping is allowed at this lake. However, you can only camp in the designated areas. Please check with lake management for more information.

Boating restrictions:

Visitors are not allowed to stay in their boats overnight. Although mooring is provided at the lake, visitors are asked not to leave their boats unattended at any time. The moorings are for the purposes of launching and landing only.

How big is the lake? The surface area of the lake is 28,000 acres

Fishing

What kind of fish can be found in the lake? Trout, salmon, bass and catfish can all be found here.

Are there any limitations or seasons for these fish? Yes, according to lake management:

Trout and salmon: Open season all year. Limit: five trout or salmon in combination.

Bass: Open season all year. Limit: five bass. Minimum length: none.

Catfish: Open season all year. Limit: twenty (except Bullheads no limit.)

Special notes:

At times, islands in the lake may be submerged. Please use caution and ask lake management about which areas need to be avoided at certain times of the year.
