About the Lake:

Lake Millerton is an enormous lake with over 525,000 surface acres and 51 miles of shoreline. It is a favorite among boaters and offers fishers quite a challenge. There is an area where boaters can stay on boat over night, but this is limited to 15 vessels. It’s a good idea to call ahead if you plan to stay on your boat while visiting the lake.

Millerton Boat Ramp #1

Off of Millerton Rd. at the south side of the dam, near Millerton Courthouse.

Millerton Boat Ramp #2

On the south shore, off of Millerton Rd., just beyond the park entrance gate, near La Playa picnic area.

Paved launch ramp, fee.

 

Millerton Boat Ramp #3

On the south shore, off of Millerton Rd., just beyond the park entrance gate, near Blue Oak picnic area.

Millerton Boat Ramp #4

On the south shore near the South Bay picnic area.

At the end of the park road, at McKenzie Point.

Is Camping Allowed?

Yes, camping is allowed at the following locations:

 

North Shore Campground

On the northshore, on Rd. 145.

There is a fee for this campground. Reservations are recommended and are available thru Mistix: in California (800) 444-7275 - out of state (619) 452-1950

 

Temperance Flat Boat Camp

All the way up in the no skiing area at the east end of the lake.

You must register in advance here and there is a fee

North Finegold Boat Camp

Northshore of lake up in the mouth of Finegold Creek.

15 boat limit, fee

Boating Restrictions:

Lake officials state:

 

Boats must not travel fast enough to leave wake behind them in area between the 5 mph buoys and shore.

Boats must not enter the area between buoy line and the dam.

Swimming areas at McKenzie Point, South Bay, and La Plata Beach are off-limits to all boats and personal watercraft.

Waterskiing is prohibited anywhere upstream of the NO SKI buoys at east end of Finegold Bay.

 

What kind of fish can be found in the lake?

Numerous varities of bass, trout, catfish and crappie all call this lake home.

 

Are there any fishing restrictions?

Yes, according to lake officials:

 

Trout: Open season all year. Limit: five

Bass: Open season all year. Limit: five bass. Slot Limit: none between 12 and 15 inches

Striped Bass: Open season all year. Limit: two. Minimum Size: 18"

Crappie: Open season all year. Limit: twenty-five

Catfish: Open season all year. Limit: no limit

Bluegill: Open season all year. Limit: no limit

 

Special notes:

Please note that no alcohol is permitted on the beaches of the lake. If you have a pet, it must be on a leash at all times. In addition, electronic equipment that make sounds are not allowed outside of the campsites.

cONCERNED ABOUT THE WIND AT mILLERTON. wE JUST RETURNED FROM lAKE iSABELLA AND IT WAS SO WINDY WE COULD NOT SKI, TUBE AND BARELY MADE IT BACK TO THE MARINA. dID NOT REALIZE IT WAS KNOWN FOR HAVING REGULAR VERY WINDY DAYS. hOW ABOUT mILLERTON???
