- Summary: This is a hike of the Robert Louis Stevenson's State Park which is located in Napa County as part of the National Park Service. Mount St. Helena happens to be the highest peak that is publicly accessible in the Bay Area, at least by trail. It tops out at 4,304 feet above sea level. The trek offered by this hike begins on a short, eroded uphill trail and then continues along the summit on a sinuous and well graded fire road. There is not much of a challenge here, just a climb toward the top that is fairly steady in nature and spans the distance between the Mount Lassen and San Francisco skyline.
