Types of Boats Allowed: Boats up to 17 feet are allowed to use the launch ramp. Electric motor boats are not allowed, nor are personal watercraft. Anything with a gasoline engine is not permitted on the water. Sailboats are permissible, so long as they do not exceed 17 feet. These are very popular at this particular lake.

Restrictions: The main restrictions are limited to the prohibition of gasoline engines. The lake also has a nearby arroyo where swimming and boating is not allowed. Alcohol is not permitted at the park, unless you have reserved a picnicking area. You can do this by calling the park ahead of time.

About the Park: This area used to hold a gravel quarry, but it has since blossomed into a 266 acre park with an 80 acre lake. The fishing is particularly good here, and the fish are stocked on a weekly basis. You'll find trout and catfish as well as some bluegill and black bass. Numerous fishing events and derbies are held at the lake every year.

There is also a waterslide which makes this park a favorite among families. Please keep in mind that the waterslide facility is privately owned and may have separate rules and restrictions from the park. There is a beach area for swimmers, complete with a bathhouse and a concession stand. You can learn more about the Shadow Cliffs water park by visiting their website at: http://www.shadowcliffs.com/.

Boat rentals are available but you must have a valid US driver's license to rent one. Birdwatching and picnicking are very popular in the park, but it does not offer any camping facilities. The majority of the park is wheelchair accessible, and beach wheelchairs are also offered. Year round swimming is allowed, but lifeguards are only staff during the summer months. Swimmers are informed that they are swimming at their own risk if a lifeguard is not on duty.

How to Get There: According to park management, "From I-580 in Pleasanton: take the Airway Boulevard exit and turn south, towards Pleasanton. Turn right on Kitty Hawk Road, which becomes Isabel Avenue. Turn left on Stanley Boulevard and proceed up on ramp. At the intersection, turn left on Stanley Boulevard and proceed to the park entrance about 2.2 miles on the left.
