If you are planning on doing anything outdoors, whether it's boating, fishing, camping or hiking, this is the book that you need to read before you go and it wouldn't hurt to take it with you either. There are some amazing life saving tips contained in these pages and it is well worth the money.

The first chapter covers the absolute essentials that you need to survive and even better, how to avoid these disasters. It's a short chapter, but it is packed to the gills with tips you can put to good use right away. We learned a lot right off the bat, and it just keeps getting better. The second chapter is a virtual go-to guide for what survival gear you need to have before you head out and once again, this is real life saving information.

We really enjoyed the third chapter, which covered how to make decisions on whether you need to stay where you are, or whether you need to get help. This is a situation that is not easy and these tips will help you develop an action plan before you ever walk out your front door. Don't miss chapter four which integrates well with this one and covers how to communicate with rescue personal and others that may be in the area with you.

We also got a lot out of chapters five and six, which cover prioritizing and first aid respectively. This is the perfect book to take with you and even if it does make your pack a little heavier, you'll have everything you could ever need with you, tucked into these pages. The last chapter is a goldmine of information on how to survive natural disasters and it's incredibly helpful, even for those that don't like the great outdoors.

By far, this is one of the best survival books we've come across in a very long time. It's packed to the gills with high quality information you can really use and the author did a great job of keeping it pithy, interesting and still incredibly informative. We highly recommend that anyone who will be adventuring in the great outdoors read this book - you'll be glad that you did. The truth is, you never know when you may be called upon to survive by your wits. They'll be a lot more enriched and ready to handle anything if you've already read this book before heading out.

Ideal for the beginning outdoorsmen, suitable for experts and a great gift for anyone that likes to go off the beaten path. It doesn't get much better than this and we literally are going to purchase this for everyone we know that appreciates the outdoors. Buy a few copies and hand them out - you may just save a life by doing so.

This DVD video is an update of the original VHS, which leads you into the most critical areas of instruction, all of which will prove especially useful in any boating endeavor that you take part in whether you are going for a six passenger OUPV or a Masters boating license. Here you will find plenty of absolutely essential information that will allow you to become better both as a skipper and as a navigator as well. This is one of the best DVD videos that you can obtain if you are interested in obtaining an internationally recognized United States Coast Guard License, or if you simply want to brush up on your professional boating skills.

The United States Coast Guard License is one that is recognized as one of the ultimate tests when it comes to your boating abilities. The program outlined in this DVD video is designed to cover the absolute essentials in the licensing test including advanced piloting and the complete rules of the road that you need in order to pass the examination. This DVD also takes the time to cover additional sections, which are touched on by the test, including basic seamanship and firefighting.

Subjects covered by this DVD include -

- Rules of the road
- Arc and visibility of lights
- Lights and day shapes
- Right of Way
- Navigation
- Seamanship
- Tides
- Fixes and Bearings
- Set and Drift
- Lateral Bouyage System
- Test Tips
- A whole lot more.

Review -

The one downside to this DVD video is the fact that it is just a rehash of older information that was released on a VHS several years ago. The upside is that not much changes in the way of boating instruction, and you would not be missing much by purchasing an older instructional video than something newer and likely more expensive. This DVD video touches on numerous different complex subjects, allowing you to take in everything that you need to know in order to pass your United States Coast Guard test without a problem. If you want to pass this important test, or if you simply want to improve your overall boating skills by learning from the best, then this is the DVD for you.

This video is nearly an hour of solid instruction regarding everything that you need to know about boating, including everything that the United States Coast Guard testing requires you to know. So whether you are brushing up on your skills or want a US Coast Guard license, this DVD has plenty to offer you.
