Fish hook - This is a barbless or barbed hook that is used in order to catch fish. The sizes of fish hooks always make use of numerals, such as No. 2 and No. 4, for example.

Flat - This is a shallow section of water in the world of fishing, where fish for game are feeding or spawning.

Flipping - This is a method that is used for fishing, which involves swinging the lure rather than casting it to the target or to the structure, often trying to create the smallest amount of disturbance possible in the water. This is a technique that is often used for the purpose of strategically placing baits in thicker cover such as trees, bushes and stick-ups.

Flipping Stick - This is a type of heavy action rod for fishing that is between 7 feet and 8 feet in length and that is designed for the purpose of bass fishing through the use of flipping techniques and pitching techniques.

Florida Rig - This is similar in nature to a Texas Rig, with the only difference being that here, the weight is secured when it is screwed directly into the bait.

Float Tube - This is a specially designed fishing tube. The inner tube is covered using a casing that is fitted with a seat, and this makes it possible for an angler to float freely.

Floating and Float Fishing - These are terms that describe traversing a river, a stream or a lake using a watercraft while you are fishing, such as a tube, a raft, a kayak or a canoe for example.

Flutter Bait - This is any time of fishing bait that is cast and then flutters down resembling a bait fish that is dying. This type of baiting is commonly used when fishing for bass.

Fly or Flies - This is a natural insect that is used as food for fish, or it may be used to describe a natural insect's imitation which would be used by fly anglers.

Fly Casting - This is a method used by a fly fisherman in order to cast flies to spots that are likely to hold fish.

Fly Line - This is a type of fishing line that is specifically designed so that it can be used with tackle intended for fly fishing and a fly fishing rod.

Foul Hook - This means to hook a fish in any place other than the mouth when it takes a bait or a lure.

Forage - This describes the method by which fish look for food.
