Anderson: If you are going to try to get some bass, head to this location in the morning. You are going to want to get to about 10 feet deep and are going to want to use crankbaits. Most of the bass in the water are small.

Berkeley: Some people are managing to pick up some sturgeon in this general area, making it a somewhat reasonable location for fishing this week.

Berryessa: This has been a great location for anyone who is trying to pick up a decent amount of bass, as the bass in the water are picking up everything. You only have to go about 10 feet deep to get the fish. Head toe the coves and the narrows if you are trying to see the best fishing possible in the area.

Capitola: You should probably wait a while to head to this area, as people are looking for perch but are coming up empty handed.

Chabot: You are going to want to head to the dock and near the dam if you are trying to have the best experience out here. If you are looking for trout, you are going to want to head to Half Moon Bay. People are picking up trout that are nearly 10 pounds in this area. Use Kastmasters if you want to see the greatest success.

Calero: Head to this location in the morning if you are trying to pick up some bass. You are going to want to use red crankbaits to see the greatest amount of bites. If you want some crappie, head over the launch ramp. There have been plenty in this area over the last week or so.

Chesbro: This location has been somewhat weak, except for those who are managing to pick up some crappie.

Del Valle: There are some stripers in the area, which is making this a decent fishing location. There has been a relatively strong bite for trout in the area. Head to Swallow Bay and Heron Bay to see the greatest amount of success.

Loch Lomond: You may want to avoid this location for the next week or so. People have been out fishing but the bass fishing has been slow at best.

Los Vaqueros: You are going to be able to pick up a decent amount of fish in the area, especially catfish and striped bass. You are going to want to head to the Marina Shoreline if you want stripers. You may also what to head to the Dam.

McAlpine: If you are looking to pick up some trout in the area you are going to want to head here in the morning and in the evening. You will be able to pick up some bass during the day, and should be able to pick up a catfish or two if you head to this location toward the end of the day.

Pacifica: You may be able to pick up some striped bass here, especially if you are near Linda Mar. You may also want to go near Rockaway.

Pardee: If you are looking for both largemouth and smallmouth bass, you are going to want to head to this area. Use swimsuits and try to get down to 10-15 feet deep. If you are looking for Kokanee, head to the area near Columbia.

Quarry Lakes: This has been a fairly decent location for trout over the last week. People are pulling in trout over 6 pounds and some people are managing to hit their limits of trout. If you want the best success, use White power worms.

San Francisco: People have finally managed to find some halibut in the area, starting what hopes to be a strong halibut season. Head to the Oyster Point area to find the best fish.

San Luis Reservoir: You are probably going to want to avoid this area over the next week or so. People are picking up a few stripers, but even the busiest spot is somewhat slow. Head to the area near the Dam if you are still going to try to pick up some fish in the area.

San Pablo Bay: You are going to be able to find a wide variety at this location, including sturgeon and stripers. Be careful as you work to pick up some of the different stripers, however, as many of them are not going to be of legal catching size.

San Pablo Reservoir: You will be able to pick up some trout in the area despite the fact that the water is dirty at best. You are going to want to head to Sand Point if you want to see the greatest success. The fishing should pick up, however, as a 1,200 pound plant went into the area during the week.

Shadow Cliffs: People are managing to pull in limits of trout in this location, making it a strong location for you this week. You are going to want to head to bot the first and second docks.

UVAS: You should probably avoid this area for the next week or so, as the water in the area is high and dirty. People have been having little success with this location.

Rivers

Sacramento: The river is truly starting to drop and clear, making this a river that is easy for you to fish in. You are going to be able to pick up some trout when you head to this location, especially when you use yellow spawn.

Smith: You are going to want to head downstream with this river, as people are managing to pick up a decent amount of steelhead.

Lakes and Saltwater

Anderson: If you are looking to pick up some bass you are going to need to go to the bank to fifteen feet out. Use spinnerbaits for the best bite possible. If you are looking for some crappie in the area, you are going to want to head to the south end of the lake. Some are picking up some fish that are around 2 pounds in size.

Berkeley: This location has been somewhat quiet, as boats that have gone out have barely picked up anything in terms of both halibut and sturgeon. This should pick up in the next few weeks.

Berryessa: This location is going to continue to grow as a strong trout location as more and more trout plants are planned and going in for this lake. The bass in this area have been somewhat slow at best.

Camanche: If you are looking for some trout you can return to this area. The trout bite is starting to catch up.

Chabot: If you are looking to pick up some large trout, this will be a good location for you. Some have managed to pick up some larger that four pounds at Indian Cove and Half Moon Bay. If you are going for bass in this area, know that you are going to have to get deep to get them.

Calero: The bass bite at this location has been somewhat slow. If you use jigs, you may be able to pick up some bass but do not expect larger hauls this week at this location.

Del Valle: The level of the water in this lake has gone up due to the rain that we had over the last few weeks. Trout fishing hasn’t been that good but is slowly starting to pick up. If you are looking for the hottest spots in the lake, head to Swallow Bay and to the Narrows.

Lake Nacimiento: If you are looking for white bass you may be able to pick some up at this location this week. You will need to head to the deep areas around the creek mouths to find them. Head to the backs of the coves if you are looking for crappie in this area.

Loch Lomond: You will be able to pick up some decent sized bass in the area, anything up to five pounds per bass. You are going to want to use spinner jigs and Nightcrawlers if you want to see the best bite possible. You will want to get around 20 feet deep in this area.

Los Vaqueros: This area is going to become a hot spot for trout, as 1200 pounds of trout will be planted during the weekend. Some of them are up to 7 pounds in size. If you are looking for striped bass, head to the area with anchovies.

McAlpine: If you are going to try to pick up trout, use Nightcrawlers and head to shallow water. If you are looking for catfish you are going to have to get pretty deep. Head to the area toward sunset if you want the best fishing in the area. The bass in the area are picking up as well, making this a strong overall location.

Monterey: This location has seen plenty of limits of crab come in on a regular basis. People are also picking up buckets of sand dabs.

Mount Tamalpais Lakes: If you are looking for strong fishing head to both Bon Tempe and Lagunitas. These two areas have both received trout plants and should have a good bite.

Pacifica: If you are looking for rainbow perch, head to this location. Use pile worms if you are trying to pick them up. If you are looking for crab you may be able to pick a few up here.

Pardee: Last week saw an incredible number of fish go into the lake, with plants that came to a grand total of nearly 7,000 pounds. Trout will be picking up and picking up often for the next week.

Quarry Lakes: If you are looking for an area that will improve by the end of the week, head to this location. The bite is good and has been improving rapidly and consistently over the last week.

San Francisco: This has been a slow location, even though people are starting to go on the hunt for halibut. Will take a few weeks to see any movement in this area.

San Luis Reservoir: If you are going to try to pick up striped bass know that you will be able to pick up fish up to 4 pounds in the area with relative ease. Use anchovies and shad if you are trying to pick up fish, especially if you are angling from the shore.

San Pablo Reservoir: The bite has been somewhat decent if you are fishing from the shore. Head to the launch area and the main recreation area to get the best bite possible. This should be a good location for trout, as a plant of 1,200 pounds went in over the last week.

Rivers and Deltas

Frank’s Tract: If you are looking for black bass, head to this location. Use spinnerbaits if you want to see the best bite possible. You will see bass up to three pounds during your excursion.

Freeport: Those who are looking for a strong sturgeon bite are going to find it at this location this week. You will want to use grass shrimp to see success. Head to Lisbon Slough for the best bite.

Lakes and Saltwater

Amador: This is going to be a good location if you are heading out for some trout. The best places for you to go from the shore are going to be the Spillway and the Dam. Those who are on boats are having a harder time trying to pick up fish in the area.

Anderson: You are going to be able to find clusters of bass in the area because of how cold the weather has been. Once you find the cluster, you will be able to grab multiple fish with ease. Fish tend to cluster in similar spots, so you can return multiple times to find fish in the same cluster.

Berkeley: Crabbing has been strong in this general area, making it somewhat popular. Do not head to this area for shrimp – the catch has been iffy at best.

Berryessa: You are going to have to seek out groups of bass in the area here just like you will have to in Anderson. You are going to be able to found trout easily, now that they are closer to the surface.

Camanche: This is going to be one of the strongest locations for trout fishing, as the bite has been both regular and plentiful. You need to head out to Hat Island if you want to get the best catch of the day. You can also head out to the South Shore pond if you want to be able to hit your limits of trout.

Chabot: Trout fishing has been strong over all aspects of the lake. With that being said, people have found some strong locations on the lake. Head to Raccoon Point, the first Dock, Indian Cove, and the Burner.

Calero: You are going to have to get deep down into the lake if you want to get the bass here. Looking to at least 20 feet deep to get some good bites.

Chesbro: This has been a relatively week location for fishing. Most are not able to find catfish in the area.

Clear: The bass are actually going to be somewhat shallow, making them easier to get a hold of. Catfish are going deep and have not been biting over the last week or so. Crappie are gone, so do not bother trying to pick them up.

Coyote: This location only has access to the shore, and has not been biting well over the last week.

Del Valle: Del Valle is on winter hours, meaning that the park hours are from 7 in the morning until 6 at night. Trout fishing has been absolutely incredible during these times, however, bringing in plenty of limits for both boaters and shore anglers. There have been some bass caught by those using crankbaits and spoons.

Don Pedro: Head to the bank, as the trout are going to be coming in strongest in this particular area. Boaters are not managing strong catches on the lake.

Emeryville: Crab boats are going out and coming back with limits. Bay fisherman have not been happy with this area, however.

Los Vaqueros: This location has been slow over the last week but should pick up next week. There will be a 1200 pound trout plant within the next week.

McAlpine: Trout bite has been incredibly strong over the last week, but may dissipate. Anyone looking for bass and catfish should expect to get somewhat deep in the lake.

Oroville: You may have to get down to almost 50 feet if you are going to want to be able to pick up some bass. Salmon are being caught at the bank for those who are getting 50 feet deep.

Parkway: Trout fishing is strong in the area for those using yellow and white power baits. Head to the East Handicap Area and the Peninsula if you want the best fishing available. Catfish are still biting to those using Nightcrawlers.

Quarry Lakes: Head to Fisherman’s Row and the Peninsula if you want to take advantage of the strong trout fishing. You may want to head to the back of horseshoe lake as well.

San Luis Reservoir: Head to both the big lake and the forebay if you want to grab some fish here.

UVAS: This has been a poor location, and most are avoiding the area due to the weather.

Rivers and Deltas

Frank’s Tract: Striped bass are moving out of the area, somewhat running this area as a strong fishing place. The cold water has somewhat killed the black bass bite as well.

Pittsburg: Fishing has slowed in the area because Sturgeon and Striper fishing has slowed down.

Smith: Salmon are coming into the river even though the peak has passed. Some are picking up some steelheads but most are going for Salmon in the area.

Russian: Steelheads are coming into the area on a regular basis whenever it rains. Head below Forestville at Steelhead Beach to get the best fishing. May be able to fly fish next week in this area.

Lakes and Saltwater

Anderson: This location has been pretty strong for those who are looking to pick up a good bass bite. Those who are using finesse baits are going to find the best bite. If you are looking to spoon, head to the open water areas.

Berkeley: Striped bass has been strong for this general area, as many are pulling in fish that are larger than 10 pounds.

Bon Tempe/Lagunitas: If you are looking for a strong trout bite head to this location. There was a 1,000 pound plant of Rainbow trout that went in over the last week. Should make for some strong fishing over the next few weeks.

Camanche: A plant of 10 tons of Trout were planted over the last week, so this location should be fairly strong for trout over the next few weeks. This area has also been a strong location for those who are looking to grab a strong largemouth bass bite.

Chabot: While the trout bite is slowly starting to improve in this area, the bite continues to be slow. Head to Coots Landing and the Burner if you are looking to fish in the area. Head to Raccoon Point if you are looking for a strong catfish bite.

Calero: This has also been a strong location for Bass fishing over the last week or two.Definitely the right spot for drop shots and shaky heads, as both have been performing well in the area.

Chesbro: This location has left a lot to be desired over the last few weeks. While catfish are still biting, cut baits are only getting a somewhat decent bite. Everything else has been somewhat disappointing.

Clear: Bass fishing is expected to grow and thrive over then ext few weeks. Do not use artificial lures if you are trying to grab bass, as they are simply not working in this area. If you are looking for a strong crappie bite, head here. If you are looking for a strong catfish bite, head here toward the night.

Coyote: Shore fishing has actually been somewhat decent over the last week, as the bass bite is starting to pick up. Use Jigs and Plastics if you are trying to get a strong bite.

Del Valle: Trout fishing has started to become really popular in the area, as limits are coming in at a somewhat regular clip. Head to the east beach if you want the best fishing in the area. Crappie has been strong, especially for those heading toward the Marina. Bass fishing has been somewhat strong yet overshadowed by the strong crappie and trout bite.

Lake San Antonio: There are some fishermen who are heading out into this area. While the bite is not strong, they are managing to pick up some catfish and some stripers.

Los Vaqueros: Fishing has been somewhat decent in the area, but most have abandoned this location for now. You can still pick up some big catfish in this particular area, and can also pick up some good stripers. IF you are looking for trout, wait until next week - the plant is going in on November 5th.

Quarry Lakes: Mount Lasson trout went into the lake to the tune of 500 pounds last week. There will be another plant coming within the next week. Catfish are also biting in this area, making it a strong destination for fishing.

San Luis Reservoir: There are some stripers that are coming in with double digits in this location. Use jumbo minnows to pick them up. Head to Portuguese Cove for the best fishing in the area.

San Pablo Reservoir: Some large catfish are being caught in the area, as are some bass. Head to the shoreline and to the dam if you want the best fishing in the area. With that being said, the lake is going to close on Sunday, October 31st until the middle of February.

Shadow Cliffs: Those who are managing to head out into the lake are seeing strong limits of trout. Over 1000 pounds of trout were planted into the lake this week, making it a continued strong location for trout.

Delta

Frank’s Tract: If you are trying to grab striped bass in this area you are going ot need to use swimbaits. The area is continuing to grow, with fish coming in at larger sizes each and every week.

Rio Vista: Fishing has been difficult in the area over hte last week or so because of some dredging. Sturgeon seem to be the only fish that are really biting, thanks to Cache Slough and Liberty Island locations
