Is boating allowed?

Boating is absolutely allowed at Inks Lake, and is actually encouraged. If you do not have a boat of your own, there are paddleboats and canoes that you can rent from the state park in addition to surf bikes and other equipment. There are also fishing piers and picnic areas to enjoy if you do not have a boat, but boating is definitely encouraged for visitors to the lake because of the sights and the quality of the water.

Is there a boat ramp?

There is a two lane boat ramp at Inks Lake. However, keep in mind that there are no marinas on or around the lake, so gas up before you bring your boat out so you don't end up stranded.

Is camping allowed?

Camping is also encouraged, and is quite popular for visitors to Inks Lake. The lake offers plenty of camping opportunities, especially around Longhorn caverns where cave tours and hiking are offered.

What You Need to Know -

Inks Lake offers 802 acres worth of water. Inks Lake is considered to be one of the Highland Lakes, which includes Lake Buchanan, Lake LBJ, Lake Marble Falls, Lake Travis, and Lake Austin. The lake is a total of 4.2 miles long, and has a maximum width of 3000 feet, covering 802 acres of water. The terrain offered includes pink granite, cactus, trees and plenty of rolling hills. Inks Lake also offers close proximity to Inks Lake State Park, and Highland Lakes Golf as well as Camp Longhorn which is a residential summer camp. In addition to fishing and boating, this lake is also excellent for hiking, offering numerous hiking trails that wind up through the trees and rolling hills, and there is also an excellent golf course located on the eastern side of the lake.

Is fishing allowed?

Inks Lake may be most notable for its scenery and views, but the fishing is definitely worthwhile as well. Inks Lake is known for providing excellent fishing as well as stunning scenery, so whether you are looking for a big catch or a nice view during your visit to the lake, Inks Lake is definitely an excellent choice.

What kind of fish will I find there?

Some of the fish that you will find here are largemouth and smallmouth bass, catfish, crappie, white bass and sunfish. Crappie offer poor to fair fishing, with catfish and white bass offering fair to good fishing, and sunfish and largemouth bass offer good to excellent fishing. The lake is well stocked with fish, but not as many fish as some of the larger lakes in Texas and elsewhere.

Are there any restrictions I should know about?

Inks Lake is a popular boating and fishing destination with few if any restrictions worth noting. There are no rental properties or lodges located on or around the lake and most camp sites are near but not on the lake.
