What is your pleasure when it comes to fishing? Do you enjoy trout, or largemouth bass? Do you prefer shallow fishing in streams and rivers, or deeper fishing in lakebeds and hidden coves? In the San Francisco Bay and surrounding areas, you will find fishing excursions to suit any and every fancy. Whether you are looking for salt water fishing or fresh, trout fishing or bass, there is plenty that you will find and experience here. For example, here is a look of some of what is happening in the San Francisco Bay and surrounding areas this week:

- * Amador Lake just received more than 7,000 lbs of trout last weekend, but trout stocking has officially finished for the season. There is enough trout swimming here, however, that the lake should be plenty stocked for the remainder of the cool season. Over Memorial Day weekend, bass fishing was quite solid and continues to impress.

- * Trout fishing is continuing to be productive in the Chabot, and catfish are just finally beginning to show interest especially in the evening. The best places to find productive fishing for trout continue to be the marina and the coves neighboring it.

- * Memorial Day experienced the beginning of the Damsel hatch in Davis. You will also find some truly outstanding trout fishing here, but shore fishing is finally slowing down for the season.

- * In New Melones you will find Kokanee between 40 feet and 60 feet deep in the main lake, and trout which are 20 feet to 30 feet deep near Rose Island, the dam and the spillway. If you are looking for Bass on the other stand, look for the shallow end during the mornings and the evenings. You will have the best luck with spinner baits, Senkos and rip baits here.

- * Another excellent place to visit Trout is Quarry Lakes, where 750 lbs worth of trout just went in. Bass fishing is unfortunately still relatively slow here but seems to be slowly gaining some momentum as the weeks fly by.

- * At the San Francisco Bay you will find Halibut, especially between Bird Cage and Candlestick. Fishing has been a little slow here, but the views and scenery make it all worth while even if your fishing is less than ideal.

- * In Suisun Bay you will find excellent Sturgeon fishing. Look just outside of the Martinez Marina and Buoy 9 and Buoy 2. The best bait for catching Sturgeon so far seems to be the Grass Shrimp.

As you can see, there are plenty of unique fishing experiences to be had in the San Francisco Bay and surrounding areas this week. Whether you are looking for Trout or Bass, freshwater or salt, this area has plenty to offer beginners and avid fishermen alike, and the weather is just perfect for an afternoon out on the water.
