Tahoe Keys Marina is located on the south shore of Lake Tahoe.

Phone: 530-541-2155

Fuel Dock: Yes, fuel is available at this location. The marina offers both regular gas and diesel.

Pumpout: This marina does offer a pumpout service.

Services Available:

This is a very well stocked marina that offers pretty much everything you could ever need. There is a full service chandlery on site as well as a mini-mart. Restroom and showers are available and everything you need is within walking distance. In addition to their standard services detailed below, the marina also supplies boat covers, rigging, rentals and many other special add-ons. Fishing is very popular here and you'll find all you need at the mini mart in the way of bait and extra supplies.

What You Need to Know:

This is a great spot for the whole family and even if some members don't like boating, they'll find plenty of other things to do. Balloon rides are offered and are very popular with a lot of the visitors, especially children. The restaurant, called The Fresh Ketch offers an incredible dining experience that features not only fresh caught fish right from the lake, but numerous other entrees. They specialize in traditional food as well as creative cuisine and the wine list is quite extensive.

Overall, this is one of the nicest marinas on the lake and well worth the time. With fuel, pumpout services and many other features, it's pretty much a one stop shop and can make your vacation go very smoothly. Many travelers prefer to leave their boats here all winter thanks to the excellent care and winterization services that offered to year round customers. If you frequently boat Lake Tahoe, this is a great way to get around having to drag your boat with you every year.
Most will gloss over the surface, and give you the basic tips you need and you’re on your own to figure out anything else. Luckily, we came across Gene Kugach’s book that entirely broke that mold. It is doubtful that there is a single resource on freshwater fishing that it this complete, or that has this kind of solid advice. We weren’t quite sure what to expect from this book, but it completely blew us away.

The first chapter covers the most basic fishing tips you’ll need and goes in-depth on all of the basics that many beginners don’t know about and that pro’s have forgotten. You’ll learn just about everything you’ll need to know before heading out to the lake or river and there are some great tips for finding fish in this chapter.

The next chapter goes more into detail on bait and is a treasure trove of new ideas. If you have been stuck trying to figure out which bait to use, this is a particularly illuminating chapter. We also highly enjoyed the next chapter on rigging which covers more than just rigs. You’ll be learning about which rigs to use for specific fish, as well as some great tips on how to make them work better for you.

The fourth chapter is all about lures, and once again, it’s a wealth of information. The next two chapters are all about fly fishing, from simple tips and techniques, to the art of tying flies. These two chapters alone make the book well worth the purchase price. We were truly surprised at some of the techniques and felt that we could finally get into fly tying after reading it.

The final chapters cover ice fishing, as well as a complete look at all the tackle you could ever need to fish. We got some great ideas from the tackle chapter, and really enjoyed the tips on which lures are needed for each type of fish. The sample chart of what tackle you need is incredibly helpful and serves as a great shopping list when you head to the bait shop.

We recommend this book even to fishing pros that think they know everything. Chances are, there may be more than a few new tips in here that will get you thinking. While it is aimed primarily for beginners, there is so much in-depth advice on fishing techniques in this book, that everyone who loves to fish can benefit from it. Once again, there are few books out there that go into this kind of detail.

This is the perfect gift for anyone that loves to fish, and especially for those that are just getting started. It may be a bit too complex for the young fisherman, but it would be a great resource for them to learn along with an adult. By a few copies, it is certainly worth it.
