Whether you are looking for an urban hike or a quiet walk in the woods, there are plenty of unique places to go walking or hiking in San Francisco that are sure to please you. Most of them are going to offer you beautiful and stunning views as this is what San Francisco is known for providing. Some of them even provide you with a nice challenge in the form of climbing hills. Here are some of our favorite places to go walking in San Francisco.

The Walk: Crissy Field
The Difficulty: Dead Flat
The Description: In our humble opinion, this may possibly be one of the best urban walks in the entire world. It runs between Fort Point and the Marina and goes right beneath the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. When you hike west, the bridge views are with you the entire way, and then coming back you see the skyline for the entire San Francisco city. The path is completely smooth and flat and that means that it is great for walking on or running on, plenty of locals use it and it is also popular among tourists as well. What you can do is park at Fort Point in order to make the entire round trip, then follow the water's edge until the point where you reach the walking path. The other option is to follow Marina Boulevard until you reach the Golden Gate Bridge, then go straight when the road changes to Mason and you will find a parking distance just a little ways down.

The Walk: Telegraph Hill
The Difficulty: A little steep, plenty of stairs
The Description: If you are looking for some of the most surprising scenery in all of San Francisco, then you are definitely going to want to walk the Telegraph Hill. This is an easily recognized spot by the Coit Tower, which is located at the very top of the hill. While this is not a flat hike, it is an easy hike to make down hill. You can reverse these directions if you want a high intensity kind of workout, too. Basically, you want to start in North Beach and find Coit Tower. Walk up any street that you like in search of the tower. Lombard street happens to be good for this purpose. Visit the tower, pick up some water from a vendor, then cross the parking area and you will find steps that go down. Follow the steps all the way down the hill. You will eventually end up at the bottom no matter which path you end up taking. You will pass gorgeous gardens, sidewalks, streets and plenty of homes. When you reach the bottom again you will be on Battery Street. You can turn left and you will be at the Waterfront.
