Summary: This is a 1.6 mile long out-and-back walk, and it makes use of a paved trail with multi-use designations that is right off of the US 101 highway.

Location: Open Space Preserve at Bothin Marsh as part of Marin County's Open Space District

Distance: The entire length of this trail is 1.6 miles out and back.

Category and Difficulty: The trail here is perfectly flat, and so this 1.6 mile long out-and-back hike is categorized as being very easy.

Exposure: The exposure on this particular trail is full sun, with very little possibility of shade along the way.

Traffic: The traffic on this particular trail is moderate to heavy on most days.

Trail Surface: The trail surface here is completely flat, paved fire road.

Walk Time: The average walk time for this hike is less than an hour depending on your walking skill.

Season: This particular trail is nice all year long and offers plenty of sun to soak up.

Trailhead Coordinates: This trailhead can be found at 37°52'46.82"N Latitude and 122°30'54.20"W Longitude.

Amenities: You can find gas, pay phones, stores and restaurants to the south in Sausalito by following Bridgeway, or at Tam Junction by going north along Shoreline. Unfortunately, there is no camping allowed at this trailhead.

Rules: There are no rules posted at the trailhead, and this particular trail is designated as being multi use. Dogs are permitted on the trails that are paved, but there are some areas of the marsh where they are prohibited from entering.

Fees: There are no parking fees or entrance fees for this particular trailhead.

Map: A good map for getting to this region is the AAA San Francisco Bay Region map.

Accommodations: There are no facilities at this particular trailhead. There is scarce parking, and all is provided on the side of the road. The parking lots adjacent to the trailhead are all reserved parking for nearby business tenants. There is no parking designated for handicapped drivers on the street. There is, however, a drinking fountain that can be used just north of the Richardson bridge on the side of this trail.

Public Transportation: The Golden Gate Transit bus does stop at this particular trailhead. You can find more information by visiting the appropriate transit website.

How to Get There: From the northbound lanes on the US 101 located in Marin County, you are going to want to take the CA 1 / Mill Valley and Stinson Beach exit, turning right onto the first road that you reach at the bottom of your exit ramp, which is Pohono Street. Now you should park on the side of this street, where there should be plenty of side-of-the-street parking spots. If you cannot find ample parking here, try just north and south of the Pohono street, where Shoreline should offer additional parking.
