Continuing on from Part 1 - When you think about San Francisco and everything that it has to offer, some of the first images that leap into the mind are its museums, its restaurants and its nightclubs. Some of the most incredible things that San Francisco has to offer can actually be found in the beautiful outdoors. Here is a look at some of the ways that you can experience and enjoy everything that San Francisco outdoors has to offer you.

Just inland from the bay you will find a sprawling park known as the Presidio, which is open to the public and which plays host to several hundred historic buildings. The former San Francisco military base can be found here, covering almost a thousand acres of open space with plenty of restaurants and visitor centers. You will also find some unique plant communities including distinctive plant varieties and more than 300 acres worth of forest land as well.

Another superb landmark that you simply cannot miss is Coit Tower, which can be found near the middle of town, offering some of the most stunning views in the entire city. The only drivable route to the tower is by way of Telegraph Hill Boulevard. It might be worthwhile to climb Telegraph Hill rather than to drive it, seeing as traffic is typically a bit of a mess. There are some fun accessible staircases here that are well worth climbing for this very purpose.

If you travel to San Francisco between the months of April and September, then you should visit AT&T park to catch a MLB Major League Baseball game, as this park is one of the most superb places to see the All American game played. You should skip the up-close box seats which are over priced, and look for an upper deck ticket so that you can get a good view of the game, and the stunning San Francisco Bay as well.

There are plenty of unique Al Fresco cafes and diners located around the city, especially in the charming North Beach end of town. This is a delightful option if you are looking for something to do to pass the time on a sunny day. Another pleasant choice for outdoor excitement is beautiful Baker Beach, which is located just west of the famed Golden Gate Bridge.

Keep in mind when you are visiting beautiful San Francisco, especially when you are looking to take in the sights outdoors, that you should always be prepared for wind or fog. Make sure that you have a sweater or a sweatshirt for you and every member in your family or group of friends, because the wind can get a little bit rough, and even unbearable if you are not used to everything that San Francisco weather has to offer.

Whether you are looking for an urban hike or a quiet walk in the woods, there are plenty of unique places to go walking or hiking in San Francisco that are sure to please you. Most of them are going to offer you beautiful and stunning views as this is what San Francisco is known for providing. Some of them even provide you with a nice challenge in the form of climbing hills. Here are some of our favorite places to go walking in San Francisco.

The Walk: Crissy Field
The Difficulty: Dead Flat
The Description: In our humble opinion, this may possibly be one of the best urban walks in the entire world. It runs between Fort Point and the Marina and goes right beneath the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. When you hike west, the bridge views are with you the entire way, and then coming back you see the skyline for the entire San Francisco city. The path is completely smooth and flat and that means that it is great for walking on or running on, plenty of locals use it and it is also popular among tourists as well. What you can do is park at Fort Point in order to make the entire round trip, then follow the water's edge until the point where you reach the walking path. The other option is to follow Marina Boulevard until you reach the Golden Gate Bridge, then go straight when the road changes to Mason and you will find a parking distance just a little ways down.

The Walk: Telegraph Hill
The Difficulty: A little steep, plenty of stairs
The Description: If you are looking for some of the most surprising scenery in all of San Francisco, then you are definitely going to want to walk the Telegraph Hill. This is an easily recognized spot by the Coit Tower, which is located at the very top of the hill. While this is not a flat hike, it is an easy hike to make down hill. You can reverse these directions if you want a high intensity kind of workout, too. Basically, you want to start in North Beach and find Coit Tower. Walk up any street that you like in search of the tower. Lombard street happens to be good for this purpose. Visit the tower, pick up some water from a vendor, then cross the parking area and you will find steps that go down. Follow the steps all the way down the hill. You will eventually end up at the bottom no matter which path you end up taking. You will pass gorgeous gardens, sidewalks, streets and plenty of homes. When you reach the bottom again you will be on Battery Street. You can turn left and you will be at the Waterfront.

There is so much to do and see in San Francisco that there is no way for you to do it all in a day. Here are some of the top things that you should absolutely do and see while you are visiting in San Francisco. This list includes the most popular sights to take in and the most popular attractions and activities for tourists.

China Town seems to express what Western architects in the 20th century thought that Chinese buildings should appear like. There is a lot here that is created to cater to the San Francisco tourist, but there is also plenty of real china town in the shops and alleys of this place. If you are willing to explore both, there is a lot to find here.

Lombard Street is known as being the "crookedest street", but it is neither the steepest nor the crookedest street in the city of San Francisco. It is still one of the best known streets in the entire city, however. There is a crooked section that is just below Hyde Street. If you do not have a car that you can use to drive down the street then you should take the cable car down to Hyde and Lombard and then walk down.

The Coit Tower in San Francisco offers gorgeous panoramic views of the bay as well as the city from the very top of Telegraph Hill. In the murals at Coit Tower you will be able to take in some of the history of San Francisco from the 1930s while you are there.

There really are a wide variety of different things that you can do while you are visiting the city of San Francisco besides just what we have mentioned here. If you are looking for things to do or sights to take in, then you should be willing to ask locals rather than just relying on the tourist guides. Tourist guides and books on traveling to San Francisco tell you about where the tourists want to go -

They don't tell you as much about what the locals appreciate about the city. If you want to take in what the city of San Francisco is all about, be willing to ask locals about their favorite spots, and take them at their word. There is so much more to do and see in San Francisco than any travel guide is going to tell you - So to experience the real thing, you should do as the locals do and take in the sights, the sounds, and all of the attractions, those that are well known, and many that are not.
