Fresh water - This is a term that refers to any body of water that does not possess any salt.

Front - This is a weather system causing changes in the amount of cloud cover, the temperature, the precipitation, the wind and the barometric pressure.

Fry - This is a word that is used to describe immature fry between when they are first hatched to when they become fingerlings, or approximately 2 inches in length.

Gamakatsu - This is a brand name for types of fishing hooks.

Game Fish - This is any species of fish that is caught for sport purposes that tends to fight hard upon being hooked. This may include bass, catfish, pike and perch for example. Legal types of game fish are always defined in the state statute.

Gear - This describes any tools that are used for the purpose of catching fish such as your rod and your reel, your hook and your line, your traps, nets, spears and your baits.

Gila Trout - This is a type of trout that is perceived to be federally engaged in many places.

Gill - This term is used to describe the respiratory organ of aquatic types of animals, including fish.

Gill Opening - This is the type of opening that connects the exterior and the gill chamber behind the head of a fish.

Gill Net - This is a type of commercial net that is used for the purpose of harvesting fish. The mesh is designed to catch the species by its gills.

Gizit - This is a brand name for the original type of tube bait.

Gray Line - On a fish finder, the gray line is responsible for helping you distinguish between echoes that are strong and those that are weak. As an example, soft, weedy and muddy bottoms are going to return a signal that is weaker, which will appear with either a narrow gray line or none at all. Hard bottoms will return stronger signals, which in turn will cause a much wider or darker gray line.

Grayling - This is a species of freshwater game that can be found in northern regions, and it is a member of the trout family of fish.

Grub - This is a type of worm that is short and made of plastic. This type of worm is typically rigged up using a jig hook that has been weighted.

Habitat - This is the natural environment where plants, animals and people are living. Aquatic habitats include topography, water, structure and cover.
